I’m returning to plastic kits after a gap of over 50 years and now I’m starting to make 1/24 and 1/25 scale car kits. My first one was the Hasegawa VW Beetle, which I enjoyed and made a reasonable job of.
Now I’m working on the Monogram/Revell 1/25 scale 1940 Ford Standard Coupe, which has been fine until I started on the wheels, specifically attaching them to the axles. It looks to me as if the wheels aren't meant to rotate, as there doesn't seem to be a way to attach the wheels to the stub axles without cementing them.
If the hub cap is cemented to the wheel, the wheel will then fall off the axle, so should the hub cap be cemented to the axle, meaning the wheel won't rotate? The plan says for it not to be cemented, so how is the wheel attached to the axle?
Has anyone out there made this kit or similar Monogram kits and knows something that I’ve overlooked?
By the way, the Hasegawa Beetle’s wheels not only rotated but had steering on the front!
Any help much appreciated, thanks.
