Hi all,

I've been registered on here for a couple of weeks but just been skulking in the background admiring the awesome work you do. :bigthumb:

A little about me....My first name's Colin and I'm 32, I'm returning to modelling after being into it from the age of 12 to about 15, then I discovered girls and the model cars fell by the wayside...

Anyhoo, since leaving school Ive always been involved with 1:1 cars in one way or another but now being married and 2 kids later I don't have; a)the spare cash, or b) the spare time to quench the flow of my creative juices with the real thing so I'd thought I'd get back into the scale alternative...

I've just purchased my 1st kit - a Revell Ferrari F430. I know this may not be the best or most detailled/comprehensive kit around but I thought it would be a good place to start and develop my skills on. Also, the fact i scored it cheap on the 'bay helps too.... I'll do a WIP thread when I get going.

Just a quick question... Anyone know where I can find a list of 'must-haves/essentials' and possibly the 'most-used' paints? i.e. a list of the basic bits i need to get me up and running and what paints you seem to use on most builds (blacks, silvers etc)

Thanks for your time and keep up the stirling work :worship:

Sanding sticks like this

As for pain, that depends on if you want to use rattle cans or an airbrush. If you put you location on your profile then we can try to help you find these locally to you.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask

Thanks for the kind replies.

I'm from Gloucestershire, actually about 30 miles from Hiroboy HQ - anyone know if you can just pop-in and browse?...

I don't have an airbrush, yet, so i'll be rattle can-ing unless anyone knows of one going cheap?

How much success do people have using the aerosol's to power an airbrush?

Hello, Ths link http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/contact_us.php says that you can collect from the store if you make your order online or by phone.

As for rattle cans, there's halfords for many different car colours and ebay or maybe a local hobby store for maybe tamiya cans

I had a look around the hiroboy site and found that after I'd posted....doh!...

I'm contemplating getting an airbrush as I really don't want to have to brush paint all the small components but it would cost a fortune to do it with rattle cans... and I have a friend who's got his own bodyshop some small pots of regular automotive paint (waterbased) may be in order....
